DAY TWO: Geldeston to Dersingham

I set off after a wonderful breakfast of smoked trout and scrambled egg. The trout had been caught by the landlady and smoked by a neighbour in the village.

The route went along small lanes towards Norwich and at a certain point had the choice of getting to Norwich via a rough track or the road. I took the track which was very rough, overgrown and narrow.

After Norwich the Marriott's Way is to be found which is a cycle path along a disused railway line towards Reepham. This part of the journey is very pleasant being flat and traffic-free. At Whitwell there is a railway station with tea shop and museum and sidings containing old steam locos, carriages and wagons. A welcome break and very interesting.

The route headed towards Fakenham after which was a very bad link path.
Off-road tyres required here!

At Wighton there is a choice of the loop to Wells-next-the-Sea, or a shorter route straight to Burnham Market.

I opted for the loop to Wells and thereafter the route goes through Holkham Park and passes Holkham Hall.

Holkham Hall

The path through Holkham is quite rough at times. From here the route followed the road to Burnham Market. The last 20 miles from here to my overnight stop in Dersingham is quite hilly.......or maybe I was just hungry and tired.
