The route follows the old railway line all the way to Lincoln passing various disused stations along the way. Lincoln Cathedral is soon to be seen in the distance.
In Lincoln there is a very steep hill. The only one I had to walk up the whole trip! After Lincoln the route heads northeast toward the Lincolnshire Wolds, a series of hills designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Near Walesby there is a very steep hill but really the only one of note. A few miles after Great Limber NCN Route 1 turns right up a track.
This track was really quite rough, narrow and muddy and went on for over two miles. Pretty bad for a National Cycle Route and hard going with fully laden bike. I discovered later there is a an alternate road route, but this was not signed, or I missed it.
Back on the road I headed northwards towards the Humber Bridge.
Crossing the bridge is quite an experience especially if it is windy. It is nearly a mile-an-a-half across with traffic thundering close by, but there are great views down the estuary. You see the massive cables holding the bridge up with the enormous towers high above. Once across it is around 6 miles to Hull along many cycle paths, some of which wind through unattractive housing estates with high rise blocks.
